Every village around Bhadrak (where our ashram is in Orissa) has toppled temples till this day. We can walk amongst the temple stones, which were completely razed due to the hatred of Kalapahada, the muslim general. He wasn’t satisfied with simply disfiguring the statues, he wanted the temples razed to the ground.

Here I am walking in a small village near the forests of Chakratirtha amongst the ruins of one of these temples. He spared no temple, big or small, no matter how remote.

None of this will be taught in the history books, and politicians and scholars are careful not to point a finger at any particular community as being responsible. But everything is recorded in the ancient books like Madala Panji (the historical journal of the Puri temple).
