Deviations in the ISKCON Panihati Festival and Pushya Abhisheka

At what point in time did the ISKCON Panihati festival become a picnic to a random nearby river? Should installed deities be whimsically taken out to random locations? The village of Panihati was located on the banks of the Ganges, but as far as I am aware there is no instruction that installed deities should be taken out to random picnic locations on this day, as is now the custom in ISKCON (at least throughout South India).

The Mysterious Origins of the Cooking Term “Chaunce”

If you have ever cooked in ISKCON I am sure you have heard the term “chaunce” used often. It’s the frying of spices that you then mix into the dal or vegetables you are cooking to add flavor. Should Installed Deities be Modified Like Toy Dolls?

Should installed deities be modified like toy dolls? Originally Mayapur Panchatattva deities were cast without eyelids and with large eyes. I am told that at some point Bhavananda didn’t like the eyes and complained they were too big. So he made them use M-Seal (a plumbing putty used for sealing leaks in pipes) to reshape the eyes and modify the deity.

“Ayurvedic Dog Food” is an Insult to Hinduism

The asuras have found various ways to insult and degrade our Vedic teachings. The latest is selling “Ayurvedic” meat for dogs. The Vedas have nothing to do with preparing meat for dogs. Just because you add amla fruit to meat it does not become Ayurvedic. Why aren’t Hindus filing cases against these companies for insulting Hinduism and the Vedas?
